Overview

The WIPO coaching and mentoring project on IP and branding strategies for entrepreneurs in Zimbabwe ran from May 2025 to April 2026, according to David Jeng’s assignments portfolio. The final report was submitted on 27 April 2026.

The context

David served as International Consultant on the programme, working with WIPO’s Division for Africa, Zimbabwe’s Department of Deeds, Companies and Intellectual Property, and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs. Delivery also involved BMatanga IP Attorneys.

The assignment combined virtual training with in-person workshops and a closing ceremony for 50 Zimbabwean small enterprises. David led programme design and delivery and contributed to the final project report.

The completed assignment forms part of his experience connecting IP knowledge with entrepreneur capacity building. This update reports the programme scope and completion recorded in the portfolio; it does not infer additional business outcomes or registration totals.

David’s professional contribution

David holds a Master in Intellectual Property from Africa University and has led or contributed to WIPO training and mentorship assignments across African markets. His work connects IP awareness with branding, business strategy and commercialisation. He helps participants understand their assets, identify protection needs and build IP considerations into the way they develop their enterprises.

Understanding the scope

The assignment describes a specific role within a wider institutional programme. Programme delivery, diagnostics and reporting are different activities. The information above identifies the stage and outputs recorded in the portfolio, without extending them into unreported business or financial outcomes. Where follow-up is described as planned or in preparation, it remains distinct from completed delivery.
